Dakota Fanning says she was “honored” to have landed a role in the Twilight movies.

The 16-year-old actress admits she’s a big fan of the Stephanie Meyer novels and loved the first movie, so was thrilled to have landed the part of Jane in the final three installments.

“I’d read the books and seen the first film, and definitely I was a fan,” Fanning told Vanity Fair. “I was honored that I got asked to be a part of this whole phenomenon.”

Dakota admits she’d have loved to have played lead role Bella Swan (played by Kristen Stewart) in the franchise, but is quite happy to have landed any role at all.

“The parts are very specific and by the first one, ‘Twilight’ in 2008, the main roles were already cast,” added Fanning. “And so it was great that I was able to be a little part of it.”

Last night, The Twilight Saga: New Moon was the big winner at the MTV Movie awards – taking away a fantastic 5 gongs!
