Nicole Richie thinks women have somewhat lost their way when it comes to dressing to impress.

The TV star turned fashion designer says women are no longer eager to look immaculate, and hopes to bring that ideal back with her new Winter Kate collection – a range of elegant but comfortable clothing.

“Over the past year, there has been one recurring theme in the conversations I’ve had with my friends about fashion,” Nicole wrote on her website.

“Gone are the days of dressing up to go out. In the 40’s, women had the pin-up hair and perfect red lips, it almost appeared as if they were works of art. Even in the 60’s, when Jackie Kennedy wore that Chanel pink wool suit and signature pillbox hat, women were much more inspired to impress.

“All that said, I know myself. I am not a girl who can wear anything unless it’s comfortable. However, I don’t believe you have to choose. A big part of this collection was creating pieces that are elegant, but comfortable at the same time.”
