The Smile singer criticised the talent show – which returned to screens last night – claiming Simon Cowell is the only one who benefits from the series.

“X factor – FAIL. Too set up/scripted in my humble opinion,” Allen wrote on her Twitter page.

“its s**t. FACT ! Its everything that I detest about modern western culture. Cowell is the only one who really benefits.

“I don’t know how simon cowell has managed to get away with essentially copywriting the talent contest. Its beyond me, really.”

When several people accused her of being jealous because she hadn’t been asked to appear as a guest judge, Lily claimed she would rather eat her own faeces than sit on the judging panel.

“The fact I’ve never been on it, does not mean I’ve not been asked,” she replied.

“I’d rather actually eat my own crap, than sit next to any of those goons. Except cheryl, obvs . X

“I’ve better things to do with my time than feed the nation with the notion that doing cover versions will sort your life out.”

The Smile singer – who has previously had a relationship with 40-year-old Ed Simons - says older boyfriends are much more mature than guys her own age, and admits she likes being treated to a more luxurious lifestyle.

“I’m 24. Most people my age have just got out of university a couple years ago,” said Allen. “I’ve been flying off around the world hanging out with some vacuous idiots. That makes me sad sometimes but at the same time I’ve got two properties and set myself up for a little while.

“[Older men] make me feel a bit more like a grown-up,” admits Lily.

“If he’s much older – and it’s not older men [I like], it’s much older men – if they’re taking me out for dinners with their friends and to yachts in the Caribbean, or wherever it was… They’d take me and didn’t feel embarrassed to have me around, it kind of made me feel a little bit like, maybe I can hang around with older people.”

The Smile singer – who is often photographed on drunken nights out – insists she doesn’t even drink that much.

“I drink a couple of glasses of wine before I go on stage,” claims Allen.

“The reason you see pictures of me falling out of nightclubs is that I’m a terrible drinker – and when I do drink I fall out of nightclubs, so I don’t do it that often!”

According to the Daily Star, Allen is having second thoughts about giving up on her singing career – despite saying earlier this year that she wanted a break to focus on starting a family.

Insiders claim Lily’s love of music has been kick-started again since she began writing songs for the upcoming Bridget Jones soundtrack.

“Lily’s currently writing the best music of her career. She no longer has the pressure of writing for a record label and is loving music again,” said a source.

“She’s on a high from her Ivor Novello Awards clean sweep and is starting to have second thoughts about quitting. Lily feels like she’s walked away when she’s in her prime.”

The British singer – who says she is taking a break from music to start a family – could be joining pal Professor Green on stage during his set at the music festival.

“I’m hoping Lily will come out and join me at Glasto but you didn’t hear that from me,” Green told the Daily Star. “It really depends what state she’s in, as I’m performing on the Sunday.

“Lily’s going to come out in my set and I’ll come out during her set at Wireless Festival.”

Speaking of Allen’s decision to take a hiatus from music – Green admits he thinks she’ll return to the business at some point.

“She’s one of our best talents and it’s a shame she’s going to stop making music for a while. I’ll reckon she’ll be back, though, as I don’t think she can stick to anything for too long,” he added.

Last week, Lily revealed that she’d love to write tracks for Lady Gaga.

Yesterday, Allen won three awards at the Ivor Novello Awards ceremony – and now wants to use her skills as a songwriter to create music for other artists.

“I didn’t realise I was an exceptional songwriter,” Lily told The Sun.

“I still just kind of think my songs are like nursery rhymes – little ditties that I write for myself. I am overwhelmed.”

Allen has previously revealed she plans to take a long haitus from music to start a family – but says she still intends to write songs – and the ideal person to release her music would be Lady Gaga.

“I’m still writing songs all the time and I won’t be writing just for myself anymore,” says Allen. “I want to write for Lady Gaga.”

The Smile singer, who recently admitted she was taking a long hiatus from music, says she wants to spend the next four or five years settling down and starting a family with boyfriend Sam Cooper.

“I’d like to have a child within a year,” Allen told the News Of The World. “It’ll be a minimum of four or five years before I make a record again.

“I know what commitment it takes to release an album. I don’t think that mixes well with the idea of settling down and having children, which is ultimately my goal and more of a priority than flying around the world.”

Lily added: “I’d want to be really hands-on for the first two or three years of having a little one. I don’t want to leave them.”

Lily Allen previously fell pregnant in 2008, but tragically suffered a miscarriage.

Allen will appear topless on the front cover of Harper’s Bazaar Australia for the May issue, with her left breast clearly on show.

But for those who are easily shocked or offended, don’t worry – the picture will only be a painting based on a topless photo Lily did for the Russian version of the mag in January.

The Smile singer is said to be cutting out alcohol, cigarettes and changing her diet, in order to have the healthiest body possible while she and boyfriend Sam Cooper try and conceive.

“Lily has a few music commitments over the summer and she’s promised to do the Wireless Festival with Jay-Z, but she doesn’t see why she can’t do all of that while pregnant,” a source told Now magazine.

“She’s hoping things happen for them quickly and she’s been reading tons about the right food to eat when you’re trying to conceive.

“She’s really cut down on her drinking. She’s virtually stopped smoking and is making sure she has plenty of fruit and veg and smoothies every day.”

Lily suffered a miscarriage in 2008, and it’s believed her sudden change in habits is to try and ensure this won’t happen again.

“When she fell pregnant before it was a complete shock,” continued the insider. “So this time she wants to make sure her body’s in as good a condition as possible to support a pregnancy.

“Lily says as long as her and Sam can provide a child with a loving, stable family life, that’s what’s important. They’re both excited about becoming parents – she’d love to be expecting by Christmas.”

The Smile singer admits that Bieber Fever has finally hit her – and she can’t get his latest single Baby out of her head.

“I have to say I’m LOVING Justin Biebers Baby today,” Allen confessed on Twitter.

“Printing up lyrics and planning on dancing round my office singing it all afternoon.”

Miley Cyrus on the other hand isn’t too keen on Justin’s music. She recently admitted: “I’m not necessarily a fan. I don’t listen to that kind of music.”
